Exposure Visits / Orientation at Sevagram Ashram

Exposure to Mahatma Gandhi's Life and Action at Sevagram Ashram to  International Students  A group of 15 persons consisting of students and mentors undergoing International Certificate Course on Nonviolence and Peace at MGM University, Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, Aurangabad came to Sevagram for an exposure visit to understand and experience Gandhi’s life and methods of action in the historic premises of Sevagram ashram from 16 July to 21 July 2024. The participants were from Mexico, Brazil, South Africa and Gambia.  It was a part of 15-days exposure visit to places of practice including Ashrams of Gandhi. The basic objective of the certificate programme was to introduce to the participants to basics of Gandhian Nonviolence -theory and action. Workshop on Kerala's Economic Crisis

  Workshop on  Kerala's Economic Crisis and Follow Up Actions  of Kumarappa Online Study Programme The Gandhian Collective, Kerala, in collaboration with the Library  and  Research Centre for Gandhian Studies, Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan , Wardha, organized a 12-day online study programme on  Economic  Vision of J.C. Kumarappa from May 25 to July 1, 2025.  Ninety persons were registered for the course of which 27 persons completed the course  and qualified for certification. This online programme  was followed by a one-day workshop and physical meeting of participants at Gandhi Bhavan, Ernakulam on July 20 , 2025. This workshop was guided by renowned economists Dr. Jose Sebastian, Prof. K. Aravindakshan, and Dr. S. Muraleedharan as faculty members. Visit of Former Vice Chancellor of Visva Bharati

  Prof. Bidyut Chakrabarty Visits Sevagram Ashram On July 19, 2025, Prof. Bidyut Chakrabarty, former Vice Chancellor of Visva-Bharati, Santiniketan, West Bengal, visited Sevagram Ashram with a group of academics. A renowned author, Prof. Chakrabarty has written several notable books, including "Mahatma Gandhi: The Historical Biography" and "Confluence of Thought: Rabindranath Tagore and Mahatma Gandhi." During his visit, Prof. Chakrabarty held discussions with Shri Vijay Tambe, Secretary of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan, and attended the evening prayer at the Ashram. He also visited the Library and Research Centre for Gandhian Studies, where he interacted with Dr. Siby K. Joseph, Director of the Centre. Dr. Siby Joseph presented Prof. Chakrabarty with a copy of "The 1924 Belgaum Congress Session: A Pictorial Narrative of Mahatma Gandhi's Presidential Debut," a project of the Centre.     Workshop  Kerala's Economic Crisis:Solutions from a Gandhian Perspective    July 20, 2025 10:00 am. - 4:00 pm.  Gandhi Bhavan, Kacheri Padi, Ernakulam The Gandhian Collective and the  Library and Research Centre for Gandhian Studies of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan organized an online study programme based on J.C. Kumarappa's studies on Gandhian economic approaches. As a follow-up of the programme a one-day workshop will be held to discuss the various dimensions of Kerala's severe economic crisis and decide on future action plans. Kerala is one of the States in India with a relatively better standard of living. But the State Government is struggling with a severe economic crisis. The government has been forced to significantly cut the annual plan expenditure. Aravindakshan is a renowned Gandhian thinker, writer, and social critic known for his brave and unhypocritical writings. Born on June 10, 1953, in Venginissery village, Thrissur district, Kerala, he holds a Ph.D. in Gandhian philosophy from Bhagalpur University. A former officer in Federal Bank, Aravindakshan has written several acclaimed works in various genres, including novels, stories, and essays. His notable awards include the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award (1995) for "Gandhiyude Jeevithadarshanam" and the Odakkuzhal Award (2024) for his novel "Gopa".
