Presentation on Eco friendly Architectural Projects

   Presentation on  Eco friendly  Architectural  Projects  Shri  Malaksingh Gill a Mumbai based architect inspired by Laurie Baker was in Sevagram ashram on the eve of 76th Anniversary  of Mahatma Gandhi’s martyrdom .  He made  a presentation on eco-friendly architectural projects using local knowledge and alternative building materials at the Seminar hall of the Library and Research Centre of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan on January 30 2024  . In his presentation  the architect  discussed how he is applying  Laurie Baker’s principles and construction techniques in residential projects in various parts of the country especially in Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. He said Bapu’s hut in Sevagram ashram  is a source of inspiration in developing his architectural designs. He explained how the buildings can be constructed without cement steel.  Ms. Benaifer Daruwall, Architect   of the firm was also present on the occasion and assisted in the presentation.   Smt. 76th Anniversary  of Mahatma Gandhi’s  martyrdom   Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan  observed   76th Anniversary  of Mahatma Gandhi’s martyrdom on 30 January 2024 at Sevagram Ashram premises with a number of programmes. At  5.45 am a padyatra was organized  from Nai Talim Samiti (Ghanti Ghar) to Bapu Kuti  with Ramdhun.  It was followed by  Sarva Dharma Prarthana in front of Bapu Kuti at 6 am  with the participation of  Ashram community and others  . Both these programmes were coordinated  by Ms. Shobhatai Kawadkar and   Shri Namdev Dhole .  After prayer,  all joined in the cleanliness activity in the premises of the ashram and both sides of the roads adjoining the ashram. Around 10 am  a padayatra which started from  Gandhi  statue  reached the ashram premises .    Before the commencement of public meeting all those who have assembled at the premises of Bapu kuti paid tributes to Martyrs by observing silence for two minutes at 11.00 am. Visit of Retired Government Officials and Appreciation of Portrait Exhibition of Mahatma Gandhi

  Visit of Retired Government Officials and Appreciation of  Portrait Exhibition of Mahatma Gandhi  Shri Anil Kumar, a retired Deputy Commissioner of Sale Tax Department and  Smt. Suryalatha retired from LIC of India both from Hyderabad visited the Library and Research Centre of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan, Wardha  on January 10, 2024.  Dr. Siby K. Joseph, Director of the Centre welcomed them and briefly explained the activities of the Centre. They were happy to learn that the portrait exhibition of Mahatma Gandhi  at the entrance  of the centre  was made by Shri  Susheel Kumar Gotla, an artist from Hyderabad, who was a fellow International fellowship program on Peace and Nonviolence organized by Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan Wardha in association with other fellow partners from October 2, 2022 to January 30, 2023.

 Participation in Sarva Dharma Prarthana On January 13, 2024 Sarva Dharma Prarthana was organized at Nivedita Nilayam, Satoda, Wardha . Shri . Vijay Tambe , Secretary Sevagram Ashram participated in the prayer and shared his reflections on the occasion. Shri. Ravi Gawande was instrumental in organizing the interreligious meet. Representatives of various religious traditions participated in the prayer meet .                                      

Tributes to M A Sathianathan

  Remembering Shri M. A. Sathianathan A remembrance meeting was held at Yatri Niwas, Sevagram on January 5, 2024 to pay tributes to Shri M. A. Sathianathan, a Gandhian educationist who passed away on 5th April1986 . A number of friends and his extended Gandhian family members joined in the meeting. Shri . Vijay Tambe , Secretary, Sevagram Ashram participated in the programme and spoke on the occasion.

Presentation of the Book Gandhi La Solution Est En Nous

Presentation  of the Book   Gandhi La Solution    Est En Nous      The first copy of the illustrated  book Gandhi La Solution   Est En Nous     (Gandhi, The Solution is Within Us )  written by Louis Campana, Freddy Stoof   in French and published by Gandhi International France   was presented  at the valedictory function of Colloquium on Emerging Challenges and Scope for Peace on January 13, 2024. This book is a modest attempt to throw light on   the principles that guided Gandhi and what makes them unique. It also tell us how they can be a realistic alternative for our present times  in which we are facing unprecedented challenges. The initial chapter are historical and some chapters are fictional in an attempt to       contextualize Gandhi to our times.   Mr.   Louis Campana presented a copy of the book before the delegates    and explained its contents and very  purpose of  writing this  book.        Dr. Siby K. Our capacity to embrace diversity and foster cooperation has fueled monumental strides in combating poverty, hunger, and injustice. However, this very unity has birthed a paradox - the exponential rise of technology and industry, posing existential questions about human relevance and the sustainability of our planet.   Visit of  Shri Praveen Rishji Maharaj Upadhyay  Jain AcharyaShri Praveen Rishji MaharajUpadhyay , a Jain monk  visited the Sevagram ashram on January 3, 2023.  He is great authority on Jainism and delivering lectures on various aspects from a jain perspective. He was on a visit to Wardha  and was staying in the  Nai talim premises.  During the visit to the ashram he expressed his desire to visit  Library and Research Centre premises of the ashram. In the afternoon  he visited  the Library and Research Centre. Dr. Siby K. Joseph Director of the Centre  welcomed and explained the activities of the centre. Later  Jain  Acharya  saw the  books in  the various sections of the Library.  He saw every part of the centre and showed keen interest in the activities  Sevagrm ashram is undertaking through the centre.
