Workshop on Kerala's Economic Crisis and Follow Up Actions of Kumarappa Online Study Programme
Certificates of participation were issued to eligible candidates who regularly attended the online study programme. The workshop concluded with an engaging group discussion on potential action programmes to implement Gandhian constructive initiatives in various panchayats, aiming for village self-sufficiency.Elappully Panchayat in Palakkad District, Kerala, has been selected as the pilot site. A meeting with Gram Panchayat members and officials is forthcoming to outline action programmes. Key discussion points include:
1. Selection of sites for organic/natural cultivation.
2. Data collection of local resources to start micro-enterprises.
3. Identification of poor and lower-middle-class individuals to recommend setting up viable micro-enterprises.
4. Preparation of a resource data book of local residents.
5. Awareness programmes for healthy living and wellness
6. Organization for facilitating marketing channels.
7. Awareness classes on insurance, loan facilities, product making, etc., for the marginalized section of the selected panchayat.
For exploring ways to implement Gandhian economic policies at the grassroots level and developing strategies for sustainable development and self-reliance, the Gandhian Collective, Kerala, plans to gather insights from experts and demonstrate a model project which can be replicated in other panchayats.
