Study Visit of School children to Sevagram Ashram

As a part of Gandhi Darshan Programme ,Sri Jamnalal Bajaj Memorial Library and Research Centre for Gandhian Studies (JBMLRCGS ) of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan Wardha was instrumental in facilitating the visit of group of students to Sevagram Ashram premises on July 30,2023.The group first visited the Ashram and Nai Talim premises. Shri Sharad Taksande,a former Nai Talim teacher who was accompanying the group explained to them the Gandhi Darshan Programme of the Ashram.

Dr.Siby K.Joseph  welcomed them on behalf of the Ashram and  a visit was arranged at the premises of Library and Research Centre premises.

To make the visit memorable and interesting each student was given an opportunity to plant saplings of aloe vera in the newly developed garden near the Seminar Hall. It was mainly to create interest  among the students in protection of the environment and involve them in the process. All of them planted one or two saplings in the garden and watered the plants.

An  interactive session was also arranged in the Seminar hall of Library and Research Centre. They saw with great enthusiasm a portrait exhibition of Mahatma Gandhi at the Seminar Hall. Signing of devotional songs added colour to the programme.

A PowerPoint presentation of a young artist, who started painting and sculpture at a tender age while undergoing schooling was presented before them with a view to develop the hidden artistic talent of the students. The students read the vision statement of the artist Shri Susheel Kumar Gotla  and  different moods and feelings depicted in the portraits were explained to them.
Dr.Siby K.Joseph explained to them the significance of plantation drive in the rainy season for   the protection of the environment. He succinctly narrated the beautiful environment of the ashram due to the trees. We can see the Pipal tree planted here when Bapu arrived in Sevagram in 1936.He requested them to involve themselves in the protection of environment in their own homes, schools and nearby places. It will be a  moment of joy when you see the grown up plants when you visit next time.He also welcomed them to join the Gandhi Darshan programme coordinated by the Centre.Later they observed the flora  in the campus.

The aloe vera garden work and plantation drive which started on July 29 continued upto  1st of August 2023.
