Introduction
Numerous economic theories have emerged globally, and they were shaped by thinkers like Adam Smith, Karl Marx, Keynes, Milton Friedman, David Ricardo, Marshall, and Amartya Sen. However, J.C. Kumarappa stands out with his unique economic vision rooted in Gandhian thought. He pioneered a scientific, pro-poor, and sustainable economic philosophy. Unfortunately, independent India hasn't fully utilized his economic ideas.
In today's context, corporate dominance has exacerbated economic inequalities worldwide. Large-scale production and resource exploitation have led to climate change, threatening humanity's survival. Kumarappa's economic philosophy is particularly relevant now, emphasizing the need for study and practical application.
Against this backdrop, an online study programme is offered on Kumarappa's economic thought from May 26 to June 24, 2025. Academic Sessions will be held every Monday and Tuesday at 8 PM, led by Dr. S. Muralidharan, an economist well-versed in modern economics and Kumarappa's philosophy.
We invite social and environmental activists, youth,students and others interested in this subject, to join in this online learning programme

ലോകത്ത് പല വിധത്തിലുള്ള സാമ്പത്തിക ദർശനങ്ങൾ രൂപം കൊണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ടു്.ആദം സ്മിത്ത്, കാൾ മാർക്സ്, കെയിൻസ്, മിൽട്ടൺ ഫ്രീഡ്മാൻ, ഡേവിഡ് റിക്കാർഡോ, മാർഷൽ, അമർത്യ സെൻ തുടങ്ങിയ നിരവധി ചിന്തകരാണ് അവയ്ക്ക് രൂപം നൽകിയത്. എന്നാൽ, ഗാന്ധിയൻ ചിന്തയിൽ വേരൂന്നിയ തന്റെ അതുല്യമായ സാമ്പത്തിക ദർശനത്തിലൂടെ ജെ.സി. കുമരപ്പ വേറിട്ടുനിൽക്കുന്നു. ശാസ്ത്രീയവും ദരിദ്രർക്ക് അനുകൂലവും സുസ്ഥിരവുമായ ഒരു സാമ്പത്തിക തത്ത്വചിന്തയ്ക്ക് അദ്ദേഹം തുടക്കമിട്ടു. നിർഭാഗ്യവശാൽ, സ്വതന്ത്ര ഇന്ത്യ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സാമ്പത്തിക ആശയങ്ങൾ പൂർണ്ണമായി ഉപയോഗിച്ചിട്ടില്ല.
ഇന്നത്തെ സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ, കോർപ്പറേറ്റ് ആധിപത്യം മൂലം ലോകമെമ്പാടും സാമ്പത്തിക അസമത്വങ്ങൾ വർദ്ധിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. വൻതോതിലുള്ള ഉൽപാദനവും വിഭവ ചൂഷണവും കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാനത്തിലേക്ക് നയിച്ചു, ഇത് മനുഷ്യരാശിയുടെ നിലനിൽപ്പിന് ഭീഷണിയായി. പഠനത്തിന്റെയും പ്രായോഗിക പ്രയോഗത്തിന്റെയും ആവശ്യകത ഊന്നിപ്പറയുന്ന കുമരപ്പയുടെ സാമ്പത്തിക തത്ത്വചിന്ത ഇപ്പോൾ പ്രത്യേകിച്ചും പ്രസക്തമാണ്.
ഈ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ, 2025 മെയ് 26 മുതൽ ജൂൺ 24 വരെ കുമരപ്പയുടെ സാമ്പത്തിക ചിന്തകളെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള ഒരു ഓൺലൈൻ പഠന പരിപാടി ആരംഭിക്കുന്നു. എല്ലാ തിങ്കൾ, ചൊവ്വ ദിവസങ്ങളിലും രാത്രി 8 മണിക്ക് അക്കാദമിക് സെഷനുകൾ നടക്കും. ആധുനിക സാമ്പത്തിക ശാസ്ത്രത്തിലും കുമരപ്പയുടെ തത്ത്വചിന്തയിലും അറിവുള്ള സാമ്പത്തിക വിദഗ്ദ്ധനായ ഡോ. എസ്. മുരളീധരനാണ് ക്ലാസ്സുകൾക്ക് നേതൃത്വം നൽകുന്നത്.
ഈ ഓൺലൈൻ പഠന പരിപാടിയിൽ പങ്കുചേരാൻ സാമൂഹിക, രാഷ്ട്രീയ, പരിസ്ഥിതി രംഗങ്ങളിലെ പ്രവർത്തകർ, യുവാക്കൾ, വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ, ഈ വിഷയത്തിൽ താൽപ്പര്യമുള്ള മറ്റുള്ളവർ എന്നിവരെ ഞങ്ങൾ ക്ഷണിക്കുന്നു.
സാധാരണക്കാരെ ദരിദ്രരാക്കുന്ന സമ്പദ്‌വ്യവസ്ഥയ്ക്ക് ഒരു ഗാന്ധിയൻ ബദൽ അന്വേഷണം എന്ന നിലയിലാണ് ഈ പഠന പരിപാടി ആസൂത്രണം ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ളത്.

7. ഗ്രാമീണ സമ്പദ്‌വ്യവസ്ഥയുടെ ധാർമ്മിക മൂല്യങ്ങൾ : സുസ്ഥിരതയിലും പരമ്പരാഗത രീതികളിലും അധിഷ്ഠിതമായ, ഗ്രാമീണ സമ്പദ്‌വ്യവസ്ഥയുടെ ധാർമ്മിക അടിത്തറയെക്കുറിച്ച് ചർച്ച ചെയ്യുന്നു.
8. സാമ്പത്തിക വ്യവസ്ഥയും പരിസ്ഥിതി സുസ്ഥിരതയും:
സാമ്പത്തിക വളർച്ചയും പരിസ്ഥിതി സംരക്ഷണവും തമ്മിലുള്ള സന്തുലിതാവസ്ഥ പരിശോധിക്കുന്നു.
9.ദേശീയതയും ഗ്രാമീണസ്വയംപര്യാപ്തതയും:ദേശീയ സ്വത്വവും ഗ്രാമീണ സ്വാശ്രയത്വ ലക്ഷ്യവും തമ്മിലുള്ള ബന്ധം അന്വേഷിക്കുന്നു.
10. രണ്ടാം സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യ സമരത്തിനായുള്ള സ്വദേശിയും സ്വരാജും:
കൂടുതൽസ്വയംഭരണത്തിനോ സ്വാതന്ത്ര്യത്തിനോ വേണ്ടിയുള്ള സമകാലിക സാമൂഹ്യ മുന്നേറ്റങ്ങളുടെ പശ്ചാത്തലത്തിൽ സ്വാശ്രയത്വത്തിന്റെയും(സ്വദേശി) സ്വയംഭരണത്തിന്റെയും(സ്വരാജ്) തത്വങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ച് ചർച്ച ചെയ്യുന്നു.

Course Director : Dr S Muraleedharan
Dr. Muraleedharan holds a Ph.D in Economics. His areas of interest include Economics of Technology, Environmental Economics, Social Capital and Women Empowerment. Formerly, he was Head of the Department and Associate Professor in Economics, Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam. He is a Research Supervisor in Economics of the Mahatma Gandhi University. He is also a Visiting Faculty (International Trade) of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Kochi and School of Industrial Fisheries, Cochin University of Science and Technology (Environmental economics and International Trade), Kochi. In the past, he was also associated (as guest faculty) with Albertian Institute of Management and Euro-Tech Maritime Academy.
He was Project Consultant (Senior), ARTISTICC (International Project on Climate Change Adaptation), School of Industrial Fisheries, CUSAT. He was a Project Consultant in the Research Project “Group Farming in Kerala” of the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi.
The positions he held in the past include: Principal In Charge, Maharaja’s College; Member, MSMEs Sub Group (Industry), 11th Five Year Plan, Planning Board, Government of Kerala; Member, Board of Studies in Economics of Mahatma Gandhi University and Sree Sankara University; Member Board of Studies in Economics of Maharaja’s College, Ernakulam and Sacred Heart College, Kochi (both autonomous colleges); Coordinator, Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), Maharaja’s College.
