Dr.Siby K.Joseph Director of Library and Research Centre of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan joined Dr.Sam Pitroda on the eve of 39 th episode SenseWith Sam.As requested Dr.Siby K.Joseph gave a brief introduction about his present institutional and highlights of some important programs especially the International fellowship programme on Nonviolence and Peace (IFPNP) .
He said Gandhi’s words " My life is my message " is a message to posterity "Gandhi had a holistic approach and he has not compartmentalized life.His worldview was relational one and believed in the interconnected of both sentient and nonsentient beings.All aspects of life economic,politics,religious everything rolled into one.
An international conference held recently in Bangalore Gandhi and democracy was one of the sessions.
It was Ramin Jahanbegloo called as a significant non-Western theorist of democracy. However it is to be noted that his ideas of democracy has not captured attention like Gandhian non-violence. Gandhi was source of inspiration for environmentalists. Arne Naes who coined deep ecology acknowledged Gandhi’s influence. J.Galtung was influenced by Gandhi in the formulation of concepts of structural and cultural violence.
Gandhi has become a synonymous of peace and nonviolence.
He highlighted the contemporary relevance of Gandhi in various fields.
He also answered some queries related to Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.
