Study visit of Prof Basvaraj N. Akki

  Research Project on Mahatma Gandhi and the Belgaum INC Session of 1924 Dr. Basvaraj N. Akki, Professor of History (Rtd.), Government First Grade College Dandeli,  Uttara Kannada District, Karnataka, came to Sevagram Ashram, on 23 rd  July and stayed here upto  30 th July, 2024. He is currently engaged in a Research Project of Indian Council of Historical Research, New Delhi entitled History of Freedom Movement in Bombay Karnataka. He is in the final stage of his research work. He used the archival collections of Library and Research Centre of the Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan during his stay here. He consulted Dr. Siby K. Joseph, Director of the Centre for guidance and assistance. They also discussed a research project coinciding with the centenary of Indian National Congress Session held at Belgaum, Karnataka in 1924. Visit of the District Collector to Library and Museum premises

Shri. Rahul Kardile,  the Collector, Wardha, came to Sevagram Ashram and visited  the proposed  museum premises of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan on July 25, 2024. He was accompanied by  Shri Mahesh Mokalkar, Deputy Engineer, PWD and others . Shri Vijay Tambe , Secretary  of Sevagram Ashram briefly explained the current state of the premises .  After  that he  visited the library and research centre premises. The Secretary  explained the new activities the ashram is planning to undertake in these premises.    Dr. Siby K. Joseph, Director of the Centre  briefed him about some of the ongoing activities of Library and Research Centre including the International Fellowship Programme on Nonviolence and Peace (IFPNP) and the Conference /Seminar associated with it.  During the visit to the library the collector interacted with  Prof. Basavaraj Akki  from Dharwad  who came for data collection and research guidance from the director of the centre. Workshop sessions on Gandhi and Community Living

Workshop on Community  Living   and   Gandhi’s vision of Ashram On  18 th of July 2024 two workshop sessions were organized on  the following themes. The first one was Gandhi and experiments in Community Living and second one was his vision of an ashram .It was held    at the premises of Library and Research Centre of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan, Wardha. The workshop sessions were guided by Dr. Siby K. Joseph, Director of the Centre. It was conducted for a small group of enthusiastic young fellows from different parts of the country with varied interest and expertise . They are connected to Youth Alliance, New Delhi and Ritambhara, Kotagiri. The programme started with a brief introduction of participants. It was followed by a presentation of Dr. Siby K. Joseph on the themes. A number of questions related to themes were placed before the speaker and some of the questions were discussed during the session.
