88th Foundation Day of Sevagram Ashram

Presentation on Segaon to Sevagram 


 

On the occasion of the 88th foundation day of  Sevagram Ashram all  residents and members of the ashram assembled at the prayer ground  and conducted a prayer meeting .  A special programme was organized at the Seminar hall of  Library and Research Centre of the  Sevagram Ashram  Pratishthan on the occasion soon after the prayer. Shri Vijay Tambey, Secretary of Sevagram Ashram  Pratishthan  made a presentation on  Sevagram Ashram depicting how  Segaon village turned into Sevagram. In this presentation he gave highlights of Mahatma’s life from 1936 to 1940 and  how he communicated to the whole country through Sevagram and its message. At the end Dr. Siby K. Joseph screened  some photographs of Gandhi during the period and was informed that presentation Sevagram to Segaon  and also a soft copy of the book Under the shelter of BAPU by Balwantsinha will be made available to all. He also reminded the audiences that on April 30, 2023 the activities of the Research centre symbolically began in  the new premises and successfully organised a number of programmes.

A special message on the occasion was sent by Smt. Asha Bothra,  Sevagram Ashram  Pratishthan

 “On the morning of 30th April 1936, Gandhiji came from Maganwadi to Segaon. He left on foot from there, which finally took the shape of a world famous as Sevagram. Bapu said in the meeting of Gramodyog Sangh that we should not be disappointed in the work we have been doing. We should have unwavering faith in our work. We should not give up patience. If we have patience and dedication, we can lift and even move a mountain. Moving towards freedom, move towards the next level with constructive work. May the same echo and touch remain with us in Sevagram, we are fortunate that this earth gave us the opportunity to understand ourselves.  She concluded her message by giving  Salutations to all the great people of that time and those who are contributing towards the present.

Cycle Yatra against the Culture of Greed

Pedalling all the way to Kashmir from Kerala   Reduce Carbon Footprint  through an Alternative lifestyle  Dr.Siby K. Joseph honouring the cyclists at Seminar hall of Library and Research Centre of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan  The  cycle   journey   which  was flagged off from Bodhi Centre,  Alathur, Palakkad district of Kerala on July 9, 2023   reached  Sevagram on July 24, 2023 afternoon.   The final destination is Srinagar. They ride  more than 100 kms per day. It took almost fifteen days to  reach Sevagram .The slogans of the cycle ride  clearly depicts the very purpose of the  journey: Lesser Carbon …Greener the world, Cycle to Work, Save India.
