88th Foundation Day of Sevagram Ashram

Presentation on Segaon to Sevagram    On the occasion of the 88th foundation day of  Sevagram Ashram all  residents and members of the ashram assembled at the prayer ground  and conducted a prayer meeting .  A special programme was organized at the Seminar hall of  Library and Research Centre of the  Sevagram Ashram  Pratishthan on the occasion soon after the prayer. Shri Vijay Tambey, Secretary of Sevagram Ashram  Pratishthan  made a presentation on  Sevagram Ashram depicting how  Segaon village turned into Sevagram. In this presentation he gave highlights of Mahatma’s life from 1936 to 1940 and  how he communicated to the whole country through Sevagram and its message. At the end Dr. Siby K.   1 Gandhi settling down at Segaon April 30, 1936, Gandhi came to  Segaon and stayed near the well in Guva garden.Miraben made a makeshift arrangement for his stay , “a hut out of bamboo mats; a moveable latrine  ; a provisional bathroom”. He left for his South Indian tour on May 8 and returned to Wardha on June 14.   He walked from  Maganvadi  to   Segaon on June 16  . It was raining heavily on the way .  He commenced his stay at his hut which was under construction.                55th Anniversary of Earth Day              “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need but not for every man’s greed,”   M. K. Gandhi  April 22, 2024   marks the 55th annual celebration of Earth Day.
