Dr. Siby K. Joseph, Director, Library and Research Centre, SevagramAshram Pratisthan participated in a Webinar on   Celebrating a Life of Peace in a Challenging World Remembering Prof. Johan Galtung organized by International Centre of Nonviolence, Durban University of Technology, South Africa and Faculty of interdisciplinary Studies, MGM University,  Aurangabad , on  March  19, 2024 .Prof. Dorcas Ettang, ICON/DUT  made a presentation  on a Galtungian Perspective on the Ukraine Conflict and Prof. Shiv  Kadam, Head, Department of Film MGMU on    Media perception of war in  Ukraine. Dr. Siby K. Joseph participated in the discussion and stated that present media is following war journalism and not the notion of peace journalism enunciated by Prof. Johan Galtung. Peace journalism helps to identify the root causes of conflict. We have to focus on peace journalism.  Prof. John Chelladurai , Dean, Faculty of interdisciplinary Studies ,MGMU ,  Prof. Jeevan Kumar, Managing trustee, Sarvodaya International Trust,Prof. Alain Tschudin, Director, ICON, DUT, Mrs. Anuradha Shankar, IPS, Mrs. Ela Gandhi , Phoenix Settlement and others reflected on this point.

  False Social Media Propaganda against Gandhi : A Factual Analysis    Siby K. Joseph     A false propaganda against Gandhi is gaining momentum through social media in connection with the allowance for the upkeep of Gandhi as a State Prisoner in 1930 by the British Government. Usually this type of propaganda coincides with Mahatma Gandhi’s birthday or martyrdom.  I received   a WhatsApp message a couple of days back from a person associated with a Gandhian organization for quite a long time.  I noticed that this message was forwarded many times.  It is as follows: “Finally, that letter was found in national records. In 1930, MK Gandhi was getting ₹100 per month from the British for personal expenses. At that time, the market price of 10 grams of gold was ₹18. Workshop sessions on Gandhi and Community Living

Workshop on Community  Living   and   Gandhi’s vision of Ashram On  18 th of July 2024 two workshop sessions were organized on  the following themes. The first one was Gandhi and experiments in Community Living and second one was his vision of an ashram .It was held    at the premises of Library and Research Centre of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan, Wardha. The workshop sessions were guided by Dr. Siby K. Joseph, Director of the Centre. It was conducted for a small group of enthusiastic young fellows from different parts of the country with varied interest and expertise . They are connected to Youth Alliance, New Delhi and Ritambhara, Kotagiri. The programme started with a brief introduction of participants. It was followed by a presentation of Dr. Siby K.
