Discussion on Nai Talim

 Nai Talim and its symbiotic relationship with 'Work in Education' within the NCF 2005 




A group of students from the Centre for Excellence in Teacher Education at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai as a part of academic pursuit in the History of Education course, guided by Dr. Arindam Bose came to Sevagram Ashram  on 16 and 17 September, 2023  It was a part of  the  group assignment, conceived to foster historical insights  from those who worked   in the domain of Nai Talim and its symbiotic relationship with 'Work in Education' within the NCF 2005. The team consisted  of  Ms. Mallika Joshi,  Mr. Kishor Bethekar, and  Mr. Ritika Hazrati, all students of CETE. They reached the Ashram on 16th morning and visited Anand Niketan School of Nai Talim Samity and experienced the application of Nai Talim principles in the school curriculum. They also had discussions with people associated with Nai Talim.

In the afternoon they visited the Library and Research Centre of the Ashram and held discussions with the Director, Dr. Siby K. Joseph. In a presentation he gave an overview of evolution and development of Gandhi’s educational ideas which culminated in his scheme of Nai Talim .  The discussion with him was continued on the second day also based on his presentation and some pertinent questions relating to Nai Talim. Some important archival materials related to the study were also made available to the group.
