Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan G20/ C20 Exhibition Stall 

On request, Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan  arranged an exhibition  stall in the venue of G20 / C-20 Summit , Nagpur on March 20-21, 2023.In the stall, literature including Gandhi's Autobiography, Satyagraha in South Africa, Hind Swaraj  and couple of compiled  and selected works of Gandhi  were kept on display. Ashrams of Gandhi and Lanza del Vasto, a recent joint publication of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan, some selected literature on Gandhian Thought,  Book Charkha, and  replicas of Spinning wheel were also kept on display. Interested persons have the option to procure these  items from the stall.

 Inside the  stall, the portraits  of Gandhi, Mahatma Gandhi spinning inside  the Bapu Kuti of Sevagram Ashram, photo of iconic Bapu Kuti  were kept. The central theme of the stall centred around  the spinning  wheel,  which is  a symbol of sustainable economy and development. 

Those who were visiting the stall had the opportunity to engage in spinning through  book charkha, box charkha and kisan charkha . A brochure describing brief history of Sevagram Ashram was distributed to  interested  visitors. Provision was  also  made to provide authentic information relating to Gandhian Thought for visitors.


Many dignitaries including  spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi, Shri Devendra Fadnavis,Deputy  Chief Minister, Maharashtra State,  dignitaries  and delegates who participated in the summit from India and abroad, Commissioner, District Collector and other officials  from Nagpur visited the stall. Also a number of officials from  Wardha visited the stall. 

The Wardha district  stall was shared  by Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan,Magan Sangrahalaya Samity and Ranwara Agro Producer  Co.Ltd.who produces the traditional Wardha turmeric. 

The stall of the Ashram was effectively managed by Mr.Siddeshwar Umarkar, office Secretary and Ms. Richa Deokar, student of Gandhian Studies at MGM University,Aurangabad and  doing  internship  at Sri Jamnalal Bajaj Memorial Library and Research Centre for Gandhian Studies, Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan.Both of them  demonstrated spinning to the delegates, who visited the stall and assisted them how to spin using  the  different types of spinning wheels kept in the stall.





 Dr.Siby K.Joseph, Director of Sri Jamnalal Bajaj Memorial Library and Research Centre Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan warmly welcomed Mata Amritanandamayi  who visited the stall after the inaugural session. She was the Chair of Civil 20(C20) an official engagement group of G20.C20 is a platform for Civil Society Organisations  to bring forth  nongovernment and non-business  voices to the G20 leaders. During the brief interaction with the Chair of C20,Dr.Siby K.Joseph  explained the work of upcoming Library and Research Centre of the Ashram.The spiritual leader gave her blessings to the work of the Ashram. He also answered the queries of delegates and others who visited the stall regarding Sevagram Ashram and Gandhian Studies.


The stall got media coverage both - print and electronic media.  Times of India described  the portable charkha of the Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan Pratishthan as the star attraction.
