Training sessions and Guided visit for IIM Nagpur Immersion Programme

As part of 6 day Immersion Programme of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur MIHAN Campus for Deemed Management Institutes one day visit was organized in various places from 20-25 February 2023.  IIM Nagpur, a new generation IIM, aims to create value-driven leaders, global managers, and entrepreneurs with strong conceptual foundations and analytical approach to help them be the best in whichever field they choose, It selected Sevagram Ashram as the venue of their training and visit. 

Lt. Col.M.V. Alur (Retd.)Chief Administrative Officer requested Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan to arrange a one day visit/training  at the ashram on February 23, 2023. The group consisted of 26 students of MBA/PGDM of ASM’s Institute of Business Management and Research (IBMR) Chinchwad, Pune and four staff members.

On request training sessions and guided visits were organized for the group by Sri Jamnalal Bajaj Memorial Library and Research Centre for Gandhian Studies (JBMLRCGS), Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan, Sevagram, Wardha. The participants were given a brief introduction about the Ashrams of Gandhi with special reference to Sevagram Ashram. Dr. Siby K. Joseph, Director, JBMLRCGS while addressing the group pinpointed the historic significance of Sevagram Ashram and the socio political initiatives Mahatma Gandhi had undertaken from Sevagram.   He said “All - India National Educational Conference was held at Wardha under the guidance of Mahatma on the 22nd and 23rd of October 1937 is worth studying even for  the management students . Gandhi called it a purely business meeting. Every activity launched by him showed his managerial skills with a strong ethical foundation.” A brief note on the Ashram was circulated among the participants. The participants visited the heritage buildings and various departments of the Ashrams.

The exploratory visit to the spinning and weaving unit of the Ashram was an eye opener for the participants. The various processes in the production of Khadi were explained to them. The faculty and students had interactions with the head of the spinning unit and the workers.

An interactive session was organized in the afternoon for the group. Mr. Rahul Peshatwar of IIM , Nagpur in his address stated the visit to the ashram is a new learning for the group  for  how to run organizations without having a huge budget and undertaking many ventures . Dr. Radha Mahante of  IBMR, Pune   pointed out the need for expanding the Khadi unit of the Ashram and its diversification to ensure a variety of clothes without compromising the value system of Gandhi’s Ashram .Prof. Sachin Patil of IBMR reminded the group that it is the duty of management students to come up with viable projects for the sustenance of organizations like Ashram. The faculty and students expressed their gratitude and a memento was given to the ashram at the valedictory function .

आईआईएम के विसर्जन कार्यक्रम का प्रशिक्षण दौरा 

भारतीय प्रबंध संस्थान (IIM) नागपुर के 6 दिवसीय विसर्जन कार्यक्रम के भाग के रूप में डीम्ड प्रबंधन संस्थानों के लिए 20-25 फरवरी 2023 तक विभिन्न स्थानों पर एक दिवसीय यात्रा का आयोजन किया गया था। IIM, नागपुर, एक नई पीढ़ी का IIM, है। इसका उद्देश्य मूल्यों से प्रेरित नेताओं को बनाना है।  वैश्विक प्रबंधकों, और उद्यमियों को मजबूत वैचारिक नींव और विश्लेषणात्मक दृष्टिकोण के साथ वे जो भी क्षेत्र चुनते हैं, उसमें सर्वश्रेष्ठ होने में मदद करने हेतु IIM ने सेवाग्राम आश्रम को अपने प्रशिक्षण दौरे के स्थान के रूप में चुना।

लेफ्टिनेंट कर्नल एम.वी. अलूर (सेवानिवृत्त) मुख्य प्रशासनिक अधिकारी ने सेवाग्राम आश्रम प्रतिष्ठान को 23 फरवरी, 2023 को आश्रम में एक दिवसीय दौरे/प्रशिक्षण की व्यवस्था करने का अनुरोध किया। इस समूह में एएसएम के इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ बिजनेस मैनेजमेंट एंड रिसर्च (आईबीएमआर) चिंचवाड़ के एमबीए/पीजीडीएम के 26 छात्र शामिल थे तथा 4 स्टाफ सदस्य भी थे ।

अनुरोध पर श्री जमनालाल बजाज मेमोरियल लाइब्रेरी एंड रिसर्च सेंटर फॉर गांधीयन स्टडीज (जेबीएमएलआरसीजीएस), सेवाग्राम आश्रम प्रतिष्ठान, सेवाग्राम, वर्धा द्वारा समूह के लिए प्रशिक्षण सत्र और निर्देशित दौरे का आयोजन किया गया। गांधी के आश्रमों के साथ-साथ प्रतिभागियों को सेवाग्राम आश्रम के विशेष संदर्भ के बारे में संक्षिप्त परिचय दिया गया। डॉ. सिबी के. जोसेफ, निदेशक, जेबीएमएलआरसीजीएस ने समूह को संबोधित करते हुए सेवाग्राम आश्रम के ऐतिहासिक महत्व और सेवाग्राम से महात्मा गांधी द्वारा की गई सामाजिक राजनीतिक पहलुओं की ओर इशारा किया। उन्होंने कहा, "22 और 23 अक्टूबर 1937 को महात्मा के मार्गदर्शन में वर्धा में आयोजित अखिल भारतीय राष्ट्रीय शैक्षिक सम्मेलन प्रबंधन विद्यार्थियों के लिए भी अध्ययन के योग्य है। गांधी ने इसे विशुद्ध रूप से व्यापारिक बैठक कहा। उनके द्वारा शुरू की गई प्रत्येक गतिविधि ने उनके प्रबंधकीय कौशल को एक मजबूत नैतिक आधार के साथ दिखाया। प्रतिभागियों के बीच आश्रम पर एक संक्षिप्त नोट वितरित किया गया। प्रतिभागियों ने स्मारक कुटियों और आश्रमों के विभिन्न विभागों का दौरा किया।

आश्रम की कताई और बुनाई इकाई का अन्वेषणात्मक दौरा प्रतिभागियों के लिए आंखें खोलने वाला था। उन्हें खादी के उत्पादन की विभिन्न प्रक्रियाओं के बारे में बताया गया। संकाय और छात्रों ने कताई इकाई के प्रमुख और श्रमिकों के साथ बातचीत की।

दोपहर में समूह के लिए एक इंटरैक्टिव सत्र आयोजित किया गया था। आईआईएम, नागपुर के श्री राहुल पेषटवार ने अपने संबोधन में कहा कि आश्रम का दौरा समूह के लिए एक नई सीख है कि बिना भारी बजट और कई उपक्रमों के बिना संगठनों को कैसे चलाया जाए। आईबीएमआर, पुणे की डॉ. राधा महंते ने गांधी के आश्रम की मूल्य प्रणाली से समझौता किए बिना विभिन्न प्रकार के कपड़ों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए आश्रम की खादी इकाई के विस्तार और इसके विविधीकरण की आवश्यकता पर ध्यान दिलाया। आईबीएमआर, के प्रो.सचिन पाटिल ने समूह को याद दिलाया कि आश्रम जैसे संगठनों के भरण-पोषण के लिए व्यवहार्य परियोजनाओं के साथ आना प्रबंधन छात्रों का कर्तव्य है। समापन समारोह में शिक्षकों और छात्रों ने आश्रम का आभार व्यक्त किया और एक स्मृति चिन्ह प्रदान किया गया।
