Commemoration of 79 th Death of Anniversary Kasturba Gandhi

On the occasion of 79th Death Anniversary of  Kasturba Gandhi, Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan organized a number of programmes to pay tributes to her loving memory on 22nd February 2023 . It was observed as Matru Divas.  The programme began at 5.45 am. from Ghanti Ghar of Nai Talim premises. Inmates of the Ashram and associates took a padyatra from there to Ba Kuti in Sevagram Ashram. It was followed by prayer in front of Ba Kuti. A Shramdan programme was organized in the premises of the Ashram in the morning. A public meeting was held at the Seminar hall of Yatri Niwas  at 11-00 am.





















The programme began with a Bhajan from Shri. Jalandharnath. Dr. Siby K. Joseph of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan gave a brief introduction about the programme and the Gandhi Darshan Programme of 22-23 . He also introduced the dignitaries. Miss Ashwini Baghel talked about the importance of Matru divas. Usha ben of Brahma Vidya Mandir Pavnar Ashram delivered the keynote address. She highlighted the contributions of Kasturba in different facets of life. Gandhi stated that if kasturba dies in jail he will give  an offering like Jagdamba. In fact Kasturba died in Aga khan palace as a prisoner. Her life is a source of inspiration. 


Dr. Ravindra R.P. while addressing the meeting stated that Kasturba had an independent personality. But unfortunately that is not properly recognized. Smt. Kusumtai Pande, former senior inmate  of the Ashram also talked on the occasion. She stated how important it is to remember the sacrifices made by Ba.  Shri Chandan Pal , President of Sarva Seva  Sangh presided over  the function . In his presidential address, he described Kasturba as an embodiment of an empowered woman. He lamented that on the occasion of  150th birth anniversary of Kasturba and Mahatma Gandhi, most of the organizations  celebrated only the birth anniversary of Bapu. We ignored the contributions of Ba. Ba and Bapu were inseparable. 







The dignitaries distributed the District level Merit certificates, prizes and mementos of essay writing programme organized among more than 30 schools of Wardha and Gandhi Darshan examination conducted among 7 schools in Wardha districts. More than 1300 students participated in the Gandhi Darshan examination which was a part of Gandhi Darshan programme of 2022-23 of the Ashram. All participants were given certificates of appreciation. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks Ms. Prabha Shahane of the Ashram. Ms. Rupali  Ugle and Shri. Siddheshwar Umarkar conducted the programme.

In the evening spinning programme was organized in the prayer ground in front of Ba Kuti. In the night a Bhajan sandhya was organized at the prayer ground. A number of devotional songs were sung by inmates of the Ashram and other associates who were present on the occasion.

 



 कस्तूरबा स्मृति दिवस 

 सेवाग्राम आश्रम प्रतिष्ठान, कस्तूरबा गांधी की 79वीं पुण्यतिथि के अवसर पर उनकी प्रेमपूर्ण स्मृति को श्रद्धांजलि देने के लिए २२ फेब्रुवारी २०२३ को कई कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन किया गया। इसे मातृ दिवस के रूप में मनाया गया। कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत सुबह 5.45 बजे हुई। नई तालीम परिसर के घंटा घर से आश्रम के बंधुओं और सहयोगियों ने सेवाग्राम आश्रम के बा कुटी तक पदयात्रा की। इसके बाद बा कुटी के सामने प्रार्थना की गई। आश्रम प्रांगण में प्रातः श्रमदान कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया। सुबह 11-00 बजे यात्री निवास के सेमिनार हॉल में जनसभा का आयोजन किया गया।

कार्यक्रम की शुरुआत श्री जालंधरनाथ के भजन से हुई।  सेवाग्राम आश्रम प्रतिष्ठान के डॉ. सिबी के. जोसेफ ने आज के कार्यक्रम और गांधी दर्शन कार्यक्रम के बारे में संक्षिप्त जानकारी दी। उन्होंने गणमान्य लोगों का परिचय भी दिया। सौ. अश्विनी बघेल ने मातृ दिवस के महत्व के बारे में बताया। ब्रह्म विद्या मंदिर पवनार आश्रम की उषा बेन ने मुख्य भाषण दिया। उन्होंने जीवन के विभिन्न पहलुओं में कस्तूरबा के योगदान पर प्रकाश डाला। गांधी ने कहते थे कि अगर कस्तूरबा की जेल में मृत्यु हो जाती है तो वह जगदंबा की तरह पूजा करेंगे। वास्तव में कस्तूरबा गांधी की एक कैदी के रूप में मृत्यु आगा खान महल में हुई। उनका जीवन प्रेरणा का स्रोत है।

डॉ. रवींद्र आर.पी. ने सभा को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि कस्तूरबा का व्यक्तित्व स्वतंत्र था। लेकिन दुर्भाग्य से इसे ठीक से पहचाना नहीं गया है।  पूर्व वरिष्ठ आश्रमवासि श्रीमती कुसुमताई ने भी इस अवसर पर बात की और बताया कि बा द्वारा किए गए बलिदानों को याद रखना कितना महत्वपूर्ण है। समारोह की अध्यक्षता सर्व सेवा संघ के अध्यक्ष श्री चंदन पाल ने की। अपने अध्यक्षीय भाषण में उन्होंने कस्तूरबा को एक सशक्त महिला का अवतार बताया। उन्होंने कहा कि कस्तूरबा और महात्मा गांधी की 150वीं जयंती के अवसर पर अधिकांश संगठनों ने केवल बापू की जयंती मनाई। हमने बा के योगदान को नजरअंदाज कर दिया। बा और बापू अविभाज्य थे।
गणमान्य व्यक्तियों ने वर्धा जिले के 30 से अधिक विद्यालयों में आयोजित निबंध लेखन कार्यक्रम एवं वर्धा जिले के 7 विद्यालयों में आयोजित गांधी दर्शन परीक्षा के जिला स्तरीय योग्यता प्रमाण पत्र पुरस्कार एवं स्मृति चिन्ह वितरित किये। आश्रम के 2022-23 के गांधी दर्शन कार्यक्रम में आयोजित गांधी दर्शन परीक्षा में 1300 से अधिक छात्रों ने भाग लिया था। सभी प्रतिभागियों को प्रशस्ति पत्र प्रदान किया गया। आश्रम की प्रभा शहाणे इन्होने धन्यवाद ज्ञापन के साथ कार्यक्रम का समापन किया । सौ. रूपाली उगले व श्री. सिद्धेश्वर उमरकर ने कार्यक्रम का संचालन किया।

शाम को बा कुटी के सामने प्रार्थना मैदान में सूत कताई का कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया। रात्रि में प्रार्थना स्थल पर भजन संध्या का आयोजन किया गया। इस अवसर पर आश्रमवासियों और अन्य सहयोगियों द्वारा कई भजन गाए गए।

Cycle Yatra against the Culture of Greed

Joseph honouring the cyclists at Seminar hall of Library and Research Centre of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan  The  cycle   journey   which  was flagged off from Bodhi Centre,  Alathur, Palakkad district of Kerala on July 9, 2023   reached  Sevagram on July 24, 2023 afternoon.   The final destination is Srinagar. They ride  more than 100 kms per day. It took almost fifteen days to  reach Sevagram .The slogans of the cycle ride  clearly depicts the very purpose of the  journey: Lesser Carbon …Greener the world, Cycle to Work, Save India.
