The book Ashrams of Gandhi and Lanza del Vasto written by Siby K. Joseph, Director, Sri Jamnalal Bajaj Memorial Library and Research Centre for Gandhian Studies, Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan, Wardha throws light on ashram experiments and constructive activities undertaken by Mahatma starting from Phoenix Settlement, Tolstoy Farm in South Africa to Satyagraha Ashrams at Kochrab and Sabarmati Ashrams in Ahmedabad and finally at Sevagram Ashram in  Wardha. In addition it discusses the Community of Ark of Lanza del Vasto, salient features of the community life of Ark. It also carries a chapter written by Margarete Hiller, currently serving as the international leader of the Community of the Ark: Non-violence and Spirituality on the theme of the Ark Communities today.  The book inter alia discusses the significance of Gandhi’s Ashrams for posterity, basic education as an outcome of Gandhi’s experiments in Ashrams, Rules and Discipline of Ashrams, the evolution of Mohandas to Mahatma through ashram experiments and the demand for World Heritage Status to ashrams. In the appendices the Prayer of Sevagram Ashram, Common Prayers of the Ark and photos of Ashrams of Gandhi and Lanza del Vasto are included.

Louis Campana, President, Gandhi International, France wrote the foreword of the book.

This book was formally released on the occasion of  Sevagram International Symposium  Gandhi and Beyond: Quest for a New World Order held at the premises of Sevagram Ashram  January 30, 31-February 1, 2023. It was formally released by Dr. Rekha Shelke,  Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities,  MGM University, Aurangabad .Dr. Pooja Sharma ,University of Delhi, and co author of the book Living in Truth :The Gandhian Paraadigm ( Rupa,2022) introduced the book in the presence of Mr. Christophe Grigri ,Coordinator, Gandhi International, France , Prof. Michael Warren Sonnleitner, Trustee , Portland Community College, Oregon State (U.S.A.) and others. Dr. D. John Chelladurai, Prof. and Head, Dept. of Gandhian Studies, MGM University, Aurangabad received the first copy .





Major Dr. Ashlesha Tawade (MBBS MD MIPHA FRSPHMD),  Mahatma Gandhi Mission Medical College, Navi Mumbai, a dedicated Medical Professional and an Ex-Indian Army Officer with more than 12 years of diverse experience across various specialty areas in the field of Community Medicine  presented the copy of the book   to the Honorable Vice Chancellor, Dr Shashank Dalavi ,Vice Chancellor. MGM Institute of Health Sciences. Kamothe, Navi Mumbai in  the  presence of the Registrar,  Dr R. Goyal.

Cycle Yatra against the Culture of Greed

Pedalling all the way to Kashmir from Kerala   Reduce Carbon Footprint  through an Alternative lifestyle  Dr.Siby K. Joseph honouring the cyclists at Seminar hall of Library and Research Centre of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan  The  cycle   journey   which  was flagged off from Bodhi Centre,  Alathur, Palakkad district of Kerala on July 9, 2023   reached  Sevagram on July 24, 2023 afternoon.   The final destination is Srinagar. They ride  more than 100 kms per day. It took almost fifteen days to  reach Sevagram .The slogans of the cycle ride  clearly depicts the very purpose of the  journey: Lesser Carbon …Greener the world, Cycle to Work, Save India.
