Visit of Government officials
Official Visit of Government Delegations to Sevagram Ashram ahead of 3rd BRICS Transport Working Group Meeting
A high-level group of government officials representing various departments and ministries visited Sevagram Ashram on June 18, 2026. This preparatory visit was organized in connection with the upcoming 3rd BRICS Transport Working Group Meeting, scheduled to take place in Nagpur, Maharashtra, from July 9 to 12, 2026.
On behalf of the Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan, Dr Siby K.Joseph warmly welcomed the visiting officials. During their tour of the ashram's heritage buildings, Dr Siby Joseph briefed the group on their deep historical significance, detailing how these iconic structures are intimately connected to India's struggle for freedom and the various socio-economic initiatives launched by Mahatma Gandhi from this historic site.
The officials then proceeded to the Ashram Library and Research Centre. There, they viewed a brief, historical video presentation depicting ashram life during Gandhi's days and viewed select pieces from the library's rare archival collections.
Dr. Siby Joseph also shared insights regarding the special exhibitions the ashram had previously organized for the G20 venue in Nagpur. He highlighted how those arrangements successfully engaged international G20 delegates, both at the main summit venue and during their physical visits to the Sevagram Ashram.
Looking forward to the BRICS Summit events, the visiting officials sought the ashram’s support for a possible upcoming international delegation's visit to this historical site. Specifically, they requested a specialized presentation on "Peace and Non-violence" alongside a dedicated archival display tailored for the expected 50 international delegates representing various BRICS nations.
