Study Visit of VRS and VRN College Chirala

 

A group from VRS and YRN College of Engineering and Technology (VYCET), Chirala, Andhra Pradesh, visited Sevagram/Wardha from January 15 to17 2025, to experience Gandhian principles. The group, led by Shri Ramkrishna Yalamanchili, founder Chairman of Yalamanchili group of Industries, and accompanied by Shri Vijay Yalamanchili, consisted of 9 students and faculty member Shri Kishore and Shri Sopan Joshi.



During their visit, the group attended a session at the Library and Research Centre of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan, led by Dr. Siby K. Joseph, Director of the centre. The session aimed to acquaint the students with Gandhi's vision of Ashram and the lessons youth can learn from Sevagram Ashram. The group also participated in a guided tour of the Ashram and visited historical sites related to Gandhi in Wardha.


VRS & YRN College was established in 1950. It has been under the Yalamanchiligroup's administration for the past five years which  tries integrate Gandhiji's principles into its daily operations. The college focuses on cleanliness,community responsibility, skill-enhancement programmes, and features a Gandhi Museum in the premises. Students participate in Spinning, "Earn while you learn" programme, gaining work experience and job opportunities upon graduation, and the college operates an on-campus weaving centre supporting local handloom weavers.

The group Chairman discussed with Dr.Sib K.Joseph about  documenting Mahatma’s visit to Chirala.
