As a part of the International Dialogue of the International Online Fellowship Program on Nonviolence and Peace (IFPNP) of Sevagram ashram Pratishthan and collaborating partners a session on Ethics of Reconciliation was organised on January 25, 2025. Dr. Christian Bartolf President, Gandhi Information Center (Research and Education for Nonviolence), a society for education in Berlin, Germany guided the session. His presentation explored the concept of reconciliation, examining its origins, representation in art and symbolism, and linguistic and cultural nuances across languages, highlighting connections to religious myths and the rule of law. It also delves into the role of reconciliation in historical and contemporary contexts, including Gandhi's nonviolent approach, historical peace organizations, and modern-day initiatives such as the Action Reconciliation Service for Peace and research centres for Reconciliation Studies in Germany, as well as the United Nations' 2024 "Pact for the Future" emphasizing dialogue, mediation, and reconciliation. The session was attended by IFPNP fellows, peace activists and scholars from India and abroad.
