New Book on Sarvodaya

  Foreword to the Book Sarvodaya Chinthakal  Foreword Gandhi found deepest convictions of his broader ideas on Sarvodaya reflected in John   Ruskin's   “Unto   This   Last. ”  Gandhi first   read this   book while he was in   South   Africa. The title of Ruskin’s work comes from Jesus Christ’s parable of the vineyard owner who hires workers at different times of the day, but pays them all the same amount, regardless of how much work they actually did.   When his tale finished, Jesus said, “And that is what the Kingdom of Heaven is like.” Gandhi’s friend Henry Polak gave Ruskin’s book and Gandhi wrote in his  Autobiography  that   that this book brought  about an “instantaneous and practical transformation ”  in his life and translated it later into Gujarati, entitling it  Sarvodaya  (the welfare of all). This significant event was the 39th edition of the Indian National Congress, held in Belgaum (now Belagavi), Karnataka. Gandhi's presidency was a defining moment, as it was the only time he presided over a Congress session. Gandhi's leadership transformed the Congress into a mass movement, shifting its focus from elite politics to grassroots mobilization. His presidency provided a significant boost to the Congress, bridging the divide between two factions and bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds and faiths to work towards a common goal of Indian independence. 56th Orientation Camp for MGIMS MBBS Batch 2024 Inaugurated  Wednesday, 04 December 2024   56th Orientation Camp for MGIMS MBBS Batch 2024 Inaugurated On November 30, 2024, the 56th Orientation Camp for the newly admitted MBBS students of MGIMS was inaugurated at Shanti Bhavan, Nai Talim, Sevagram. The event was graced by Shri P.L. Tapadia Ji (President, Kasturba Health Society) as the chief guest, alongside Dr. B.S. Garg (Secretary, Kasturba Health Society), Dr. A.K. Shukla (Dean, MGIMS), Dr. Poonam Shivkumar Varma (Medical Superintendent, Kasturba Hospital), Dr. Siby Joseph (Director, Sri Jamnalal Bajaj Memorial Library and Research Centre for Gandhian Studies), and Dr. Prabhakar Pusadkar (Secretary, Nai Talim Samiti).
