Inauguration of renovated Ahar Kendra and Gramodyog Shop
Renovated Ahar Kendra and Gramodyog Shop of Sevagram Ashram were opened to the public
Ahar Kendra situated just opposite Sevagram Ashram has been catering the food needs of visitors who are coming to the ashram. It provides simple, nutritious and healthy vegetarian food to visitors and the guests who are staying in the Yatri Niwas run by Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan. Taking note of the increasing demands of the visitors, the management of the Ashram decided to expand the area and rejuvenate the current facilities of the Ahar Kendra . On April 3, 2024 the rejuvenated facilities of Ahar Kendra and Gramdyoyog shop were opened to the public at 9 am.
The newly constructed Gramodyog shop was opened by Shri Gorang Mohapatara, Secretary , Sarva Seva Sangh . Smt. Asha ben Bothra felicitated him by giving a memento. Later the inauguration of rejuvenated facilities of Ahar Kendra was opened to the public by Shri Chandan Pal, President, Sarva Seva Sangh . Shri Vijay Tambe, Secretary, Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan made the introductory remarks and requested the chief guest to give a brief message on the occasion.
Shri Chandan Pal in his address stated that Gandhi’s ashram experiment started in Phoneix settlement ,later in Tolstoy Farm in South Africa . In India, he started from Kochrab and moved to Sabarmati and the final one was in Sevagram. In Sevagram, Gandhi’s emphasis was on community development and not the individual Sadhana of ashramites. This Ahar Kendra in a sense is an extension of the kitchen of the ashram to cater the needs of the visitors. He emphasized on the need for maintaining cleanliness of the premises while providing service to the visitors.
Smt. Ashaben Bothra presided over the function and thanked everyone for their efforts and cooperation . She remembered the contributions made by the former Secretary , Late Shri Pradeep Khelurkar who was a moving spirit in this project. Khadi , Gramodayog , Ahar Kendra and other activities are integral part of our work and it should show the ethos of the ashram to the visitors. She sought cooperation from all members of the ashram in this regard. The responsibility should not be limited to the in-charges alone she reminded the ashram community . Smt. Ashaben Bothra felicitated Shri Chandan Pal with a memento and Khadi towel. Felicitations were given to Shri Arvind Anjum, Shri Shaikh Husean ,Prof.Somnath Rode, persons who were involved in the rejuvenation of the buildings in-charge of Ahar Kendra, Shri Sachin Hude , in- charge of Gramodyog shop Smt. Sunita tai and others with Khadi towel. the programme concluded with a vote of thanks to all from Adv. Trupti Zilape , Coordinator , Sevagram Ashram Pratisthan.
