Screening of Documentary

 

 First is Farce, an 18minutes documentary in Marathi, French with English subtitle was screened in the premises of Library   and Research Centre of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan on  November5, 2023. It was directed by  Shri Shrikant Agawane(mydharavi@gmail.com)  This film is a satirical comment on the current time, where History is in FLUX. 

The film opens up with the in-search of 'Kartar Singh Thatte' (KST), a forgotten quasi-political figure of 70's-80's era, self-proclaimed Hindu saviour, who contested  the election against Pt. Nehru in Allahabad constituency. Also contested the Presidential election or attacking famous public figures like Vijay Tendulkar and OSHO... 

 

Apart from the faint public memory and the label of 'The most foolish politician in India' in Quora, his traces are hardly on social media or anywhere. Even during his prime period, not only he or his ideologies, many similar figures or activities remained on the fringes of the social arena like  self proclaimed historians Dr P V Vartak  or P N Oak. 

The title 'First is Farce' is an alteration of Marx's famous quote. In India, we experienced that the radical voices appeared as a joke, trivial, farcical but later period turned out as a tragedy.
