A New book in Malayalam
മഹാത്മാ ഗാന്ധി കാലവും കർമ്മപർമവും - 1869-1915
Author: P Hareendranath
The book narrates 46 years of Gandhiji's life from 1869 to 1915 or the evolution of Mohandas to a Satyagrahi mainly in the South African soil . The book throws light on Gandhiji's truth-seeking experiments in South Africa, imprisonments, books read, philosophy of life, and his world view evolved in the course of life through experience and experiments in three different continents. The book has 23 chapters starting from his family background and early life in India, student days in England and the rest of the chapters focusing on South African days. The appendix tries to answer the question Was Gandhi a Racist?
Gandhian thinker and scholar K Arvindakshan in his foreword wrote “Gandhi's life alone is not going to be revealed through this book. There is also a sense of history of three different continents represented by India, England and South Africa. Gandhi’s forty six years of life throbbed in these terrains. The cultural, political and moral nuances of Gandhi’s words ‘My life is my message’ will reach us when you read this book. Anyone willing to fight violence, injustice, inequality and immorality of our times, regardless of caste, religion, gender and party politics, will find in this book inspiring resources they need. The language and style of this book is graceful, heartfelt and lucid. This book does not claim that Gandhi is the only way. But in it there is a strong indication that if you travel with your eyes, ears and heart open, you will find a way."
