Inauguration of the 90th session of Sarva Seva Sangh

The 90th session of Sarva Seva Sangh  was organized at  the Library and Research Centre premises of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan, Sevagram, Wardha, Maharashtra on November6, 2023. The sessions will continue on November 7,2023. The session was started by offering floral tributes to the picture of Mahatma Gandhi kept in  the hall . It was followed by an interreligious prayer. President of Maharashtra Pradesh Sarvodaya Mandal, Shri Ramesh Dane welcomed all the dignitaries and delegates to the session. He referred to stalwarts of the freedom struggle who participated in the February 1948 meet  in which the Sarva Seva Sangh   was born .  He also brought into limelight a number of personalities who contributed towards the Sarvodaya movement in  Maharashtra.  The united spirit of Sarvodaya Mandal now in Maharashtra is a model to be emulated  he said.

Smt. Asha Bothra,  President of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan  in her brief introductory address whole heartedly welcomed all to the ashram and to the session.  She said the death of Shri Pradeep Khelurkar who passed away recently is a  great loss to the Ashram and Gandhian fraternity. As a matter of respect to the departed soul  the stage   where the meeting  organised was   named as Pradeep Khelurkar Sabha Manch. She also introduced  Shri Vijay Tambay who took charge as the new Secretary of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan.  She said the students who are present in the inaugural session is the hope for Sarvodaya Movement tomorrow .

Prof. Anand Kumar ,  well known sociologist and noted activist, who was formerly at  Jawaharlal Nehru University,  was the keynote speaker at  the inaugural session. In his  inaugural Prof. Anand Kumar said that this is a time of great concern because our heritage is being attacked day by day. Sarva Seva Sangh has been the guiding light  of the world for a long time. Sarva Seva Sangh made a huge contribution in increasing the power of love for the last 90 years. Some people have been separated from their own homes, may God give them wisdom.

A number of changes have taken place in the last 75 years since India's independence. In the last few years, our democracy has faced many crises due to which the very structure of democracy has been shaken. Even during the Emergency, books or ideology  were not attacked. But this government destroyed Gandhi's ideology itself. In Varanasi, where we had a literary centre, a centre of thought, and  bulldozers were run on it. The binary of Lok Shakti and Raj Shakti came to our attention. This is a bad time, here simplicity is defeated, morality is defeated and corruption is victorious.

If this government comes  to power in 2024, it will not let us do anything, hence we will have to prepare to resist from now onwards. We should have taken the support of people power, women power, the power of learned people etc. Then we would get success somewhere. We talk about Ramraj but we neither have Ram nor the Raj . The whole world is saying that the world will become poor by 2030 because this model of development is very dangerous.

There is a need to re-read the analysis done by Jayaprakashji, the challenges of society are parallel to our challenges. This is the Quit India movement because 3 crore people have gone and settled abroad. Besides, 3 lakh people have also taken citizenship there.

In today's situation, we have four responsibilities, the first of which is that the heritage of Gandhiji  should be preserved and  second is to increase activism, third is to maintain unity and fourth is to increase its comprehensiveness. Only then will we be able to do something further. The book Hind Swaraj, Constructive Program and Mangal Prabhat written by Gandhiji are the guiding texts  of the Sarvodaya Movement. Along with this, the books Swaraj Shastra written by Vinoba and and  Total revolution  written by Jayaprakashji should also be read.  All these  give us the strength to fight challenges.

The inaugural session was conducted by Shri Ashok Sharan , Former Managing Trustee of Sarva  Seva Sangh . The inaugural session was attended by more than 350 persons including students.  The inaugural session came to an end with a  vote of thanks from  Shri Gaurangchandra Mahapatra, Secretary of Sarva Seva Sangh . A number of dignitaries starting with   Shri Chandan Pal and all office bearers in different  States of India and loksevaks were present on the occasion.
