ODOP Meeting , Wardha





Presentation on Khadi and Sevagram Ashram at

 ODOP meeting 


 On  October 20, 2023, Mrs. Navya Chhabra and  Mrs. Smiti  Saxena, members of Invest India team  visited Wardha for  the verification of  ODOP ( One  District  One Product) award Nominations. The team visited important cotton producing units in Wardha district .   Shri Rahul Kardile , District Collector  ,Shri Kamleshkumar Jain, in charge,  General Manager, District Industries, Centre, Wardha ( Industries Officer) and other officials  accompanied the team.  In the evening a meeting was organized at the office of District Collector for document verification. On behalf of the ashram Dr. Siby K. Joseph, Director, Library and Research Centre and Shri Siddeshwar Umarkar , Office Secretary  attended the meeting .   On request,  Dr. Siby K. Joseph,made a brief presentation. He explained how Khadi became the central theme of the district  after the arrival of Mahatma Gandhi in 1933-34. He also explained that  Khadi  has been a central theme of Sevagram Ashram  from Gandhi’s time onwards and  production of Khadi is going on uninterruptedly all these years. It   is interwoven in the training programmes /camps  ashram organises for university students at the regional and national level and for people from different walks of life.  In addition Ashram provides internship facilities for students in the Cotton to Cloth workshop of Khadi Unit of the Ashram. He also shed light on  Continuous  spinning for 12 hours on Gandhi Jayanti day, Gandhi's martyrdom, and such similar occasions for the propagation of Khadi .

  False Social Media Propaganda against Gandhi : A Factual Analysis    Siby K. Joseph     A false propaganda against Gandhi is gaining momentum through social media in connection with the allowance for the upkeep of Gandhi as a State Prisoner in 1930 by the British Government. Workshop sessions on Gandhi and Community Living

Workshop on Community  Living   and   Gandhi’s vision of Ashram On  18 th of July 2024 two workshop sessions were organized on  the following themes. The first one was Gandhi and experiments in Community Living and second one was his vision of an ashram .It was held    at the premises of Library and Research Centre of Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan, Wardha. The workshop sessions were guided by Dr. Siby K. Joseph, Director of the Centre. It was conducted for a small group of enthusiastic young fellows from different parts of the country with varied interest and expertise . They are connected to Youth Alliance, New Delhi and Ritambhara, Kotagiri. The programme started with a brief introduction of participants. It was followed by a presentation of Dr. Siby K.
