Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan, Wardha

  On February 13, 2026, a six-member delegation from Germany visited Sevagram Ashram. During the visit, Dr. Siby K. Joseph provided the group with an overview of the ashram’s historic legacy and Mahatma Gandhi’s deep-rooted influence in Germany. The delegates then toured the Library and Research Centre to view a newly unveiled photo exhibition, followed by a brief presentation and an informative documentary screening about the ashram. Mr. Amit M. Kaslkar from Nagpur accompanied the international guests throughout their tour.

  Coinciding with the visit of the faculty  students and staff of Vidya Pratishthan’s School of Architecture,Baramati to Sevagram Ashram on January 12, 2026, the Library and Research Centre for Gandhian Studies organised an exhibition on the Architecture of Bapu Kuti. This exhibition was based on archival drawings from the 1960s by architects from Wardha and Nagpur. The display included technical specifications regarding the materials used for the foundation, plinth, superstructure, doors, ventilators, pavement, and roof. The featured drawings consisted of a detailed plan of Bapu Kuti, including the front, west, and north side elevations, a description of items placed within the hut, and a comprehensive site plan. A dedicated session was organised for the group—consisting of 41 participants, including five faculty members—during which drawings of all the huts at Sevagram were screened.   At the request of Gandhi International (France), the Sevagram Ashram Pratishthan’s library and research centre facilitated an immersive program on Gandhian philosophy from January 26–30, 2026. An international delegation of eight members spent five days at the Ashram, led by Mr. Louis Campana, President of the Gandhi International and Shanti Association in France, and Mrs. Margarete Hiller from Germany, the worldwide director of the Communities of the Ark of Lanza del Vasto. Moving beyond a standard study visit, the delegates sought a deep understanding of the Ashram's core philosophy and mission. Throughout their stay, they fully immersed themselves in daily life at Sevagram and travelled to regional landmarks, including Brahma Vidya Mandir (Paunar), Magan Sangrahalaya (Wardha), Anandwan (Warora), Gitai Mandir, and the Peace Pagoda (Gopuri).
